Recipes for Vegan and Gluten-Free Family-Friendly Meals
Delicious and easy-to-follow vegan and gluten-free recipes that are suitable for cooking for the whole family! These recipes have been tried and tested on my family and contain hints and tips as to how to adapt them to accommodate different family members' likes and dislikes. There are also lots of hidden vegetables in these recipes as it's always good to boost the veggie part of our kids' diets!
I'm a big fan of having family meals together but, in reality, we don't do this as much as I'd like to. Sometimes the schedule is just too busy and we get back late from an after-school activity and I need to just throw something quickly on the table for the kids to eat. This is invariably beans on toast, pasta or a quick stir-fry. Other times, I want to try something more sophisticated that only the adults will like so I don't want to have to dial it back on what we're eating just to make something that will be vaguely acceptable for the kids. And then there are the times when I'm just too fed up with the kids after a long day of home school (we're STILL doing alternate days in and out of school where we are...) and I just want a grown-up dinner with my husband after the kids go to bed!
My point is, don't feel guilty (like I used to!) if you don't have family meals all the time. I try to aim for 2 or 3 nights a week eating a meal together. Slowly, slowly the childrens' palates will adapt to more sophisticated food and you'll find you don't have to eat spaghetti bolognese or pasta with pesto every time you have a family meal! Here are the recipes on my blog that I know my children will all accept and that allow us to have a family meal without someone whining about the food!
